12 April – 7 June 2015
MAISON DES ARTS GEORGES POMPIDOU CAC (CAJARC)
Opening Saturday April 11 7 pm
PIANO – ALTO! plays with the topographies and significant geographies of territories traversed during the exchanged residency programs of the Midi-Pyrénées region in France and the Dolomites in the North of Italy, comprising mountains and plains, towns and villages, urban areas and touristic spots.
The artists consider new projections linked to discovered and undertaken landscapes.
Inhabited by socio-political and current or ancestral myths and legends, these territories become the scene of contemporary epics inhabited by characters in search of history and identity.
These different works play with the idea of displacing utopia. All indicate an ambiguous presence between documentary and fiction and let our imagination wander over hill and dale in the same quest of emergency to exist and reflect the relationship to otherness.
While Guillaume Robert, Lise Lacombe and Jérémy Laffon were received at Careof, Milan and/or at Dolomiti Contemporanee, Casso (Italy), we welcomed Nina Fiocco and Daniele Pezzi in three contemporary art centres of the Air de Midi network : MAGP Cajarc / Maisons Daura, Saint-Cirq Lapopie, Chapelle Saint-Jacques, Saint-Gaudens and le BBB, centre d’art, Toulouse.
